Mapp for Congress (“Campaign,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us through our
website, mapp4congress.com (the “Site”).


This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we may share it, and the choices available to you. By using this Site, submitting information through it, or signing up to receive communications from us, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:


Information you provide directly to us, including when you:​

 

  • Fill out a volunteer form;

  • Sign up to host an event or house party;

  • Make a donation through a linked fundraising platform;

  • Sign up for emails or text messages;

  • Contact us through the Site;

  • Otherwise submit information to the Campaign.

  • Phone Number;

  • Mailing address, where provided;

  • Volunteer interests and preferences;

  • Message content or other information you choose to submit;

  • Donation-related information submitted through third-party fundraising platforms.


The Site currently includes a volunteer sign-up form requesting first name, last name, email, phone number, message, areas of volunteer interest, and a checkbox consenting to receive text messages. It also directs users to text START to a campaign number for SMS communications and links donations to ActBlue.

2. Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, certain information may be collected automatically by us or by service providers that help operate the Site. This may include:

communications, including volunteer outreach, voter contact, event information, and
fundraising messages, subject to applicable law and your communication preferences. This fits the public-facing purpose of the site’s “Get Involved” and donation features.

4. Text Messages and Mobile Information

If you provide your mobile number, check a consent box, text a campaign keyword, or
otherwise opt in, you agree that Mapp for Congress and those acting on its behalf may send you campaign-related text messages, including informational, volunteer, voter outreach, event, and fundraising messages, as permitted by law.

Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of making a donation.


You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. For help, reply HELP or contact us at 908-356-0397 


The current Site specifically invites users to text START to 908-356-0397 and includes a
checkbox stating, “I agree to receive text messages from Mapp for Congress.”

5. Email Communications

If you provide your email address to us, we may send you campaign emails, including updates, event invitations, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising communications. You may unsubscribe from campaign emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us at media@mapp4congress.com

6. Donations and Third-Party Payment Processing                           

The Site may link to third-party donation processors, including ActBlue or similar platforms. When you make a donation through a third-party platform, your payment and related personal information are collected and processed by that third party in accordance with its privacy policy, terms, and security practices.


We may receive information related to your donation, such as your name, contact information, contribution amount, and other information necessary for compliance, recordkeeping, reporting, and donor communications.

 
The public site includes prominent donation links that route users to ActBlue rather than
processing contributions directly on the site itself.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, scripts, and similar technologies to:

  • understand Site traffic and usage patterns;

  • improve Site performance and functionality;

We do not sell your personal information for commercial profit. However, we may share
information with campaign-related vendors and service providers in order to operate the Site and communicate with supporters.


Given the site’s visible use of Wix hosting, ActBlue donation links, volunteer forms, and SMS sign-up functionality, some supporter information is necessarily handled through third-party service providers.

9. Publicly Reported Contributions

Certain contributions may be publicly disclosed as required by federal or state campaign
finance laws. Information reported to election authorities is governed by applicable law and may become part of the public record.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information. However, no website, internet transmission, email system, or electronic storage method is ever completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.


My blunt view here: do not overpromise. “Reasonable measures” is the right language.
Anything stronger starts sounding careless.

11. Data Retention

We may retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

This Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect
personal information online from children under 13 without appropriate consent. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us, please contact us at

We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or policies of those third parties. Your use of third-party sites is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.


The campaign site currently links to third-party services including ActBlue and external
social/media content.

15. Do Not Track

Some web browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is not yet a universally
accepted standard for responding to such signals, this Site may not respond to Do Not Track requests in all cases.

16. State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain privacy rights under applicable state law, which could include the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information, subject to legal exceptions and campaign-related obligations.
